Privately held Marriage Certificate - New South Wales, Australia

Dear EE,

I have quite a number of inherited family certificates including the attached marriage certificate of my grandparents. I would love some feedback on my attempt below.

Source List Entry

Grant Family Papers. Privately held by Renee Michelle McLean, New South Wales, Australia.

First Reference Note

Grant-Jones marriage certificate, Sans Souci, New South Wales, citing the marriage of James William Henderson Grant and Hazel Beatrice Jones on 21 November 1936; Grant Family Papers, privately held by Renee Michelle McLean, New South Wales, Australia. This certificate was passed from James William Henderson Grant ( 1909 - 1999 ) to his son Eric Henderson Grant ( 1944 - 2020 ), from whom the current owner inherited it in 2020.

I have not included my street address due to privacy concerns as I’m using this citation on Ancestry.com. Is it acceptable to include my email address instead?

Thank you so much,

Renee

Hello, Renee,

You have good instincts and have captured all the basics. We might trim wordiness a bit, following the basic what-who-when-where pattern at EE 3.25, "Basic Format for Family Artifacts":

Marriage certificate, James William Henderson Grant and Hazel Beatrice Jones, 21 November 1936, Sans Souci, New South Wales; Grant Family Papers, privately held by Renee Michelle McLean, New South Wales, Australia ... [provenance, as given above].

The omission of personal home addresses in a public citation is best these days. That's why EE's citation models use the phrase "address for private use" in that field. If you wish to be contacted via email, then certainly you could put your email address there.
