Hello,
I am wondering how to cite a Galizien Village Family Book. I obtained it from Galizien German Descendants website, http://www.galiziengermandescendants.org. The books are a compilation of data from church records mostly. At one time you could purchase a CD containing several of the books and now a book of a single village can be purchased. The following is the title of one of the documents I have on one village:
Ortsfamilienbuch Alt Jazów/Galizien 1786-1870
nach Unterlagen der Genealogischen Forschungsstelle der Galiziendeutschen
Stand: 07.10.2003
Hello, skloczko,
Hello, skloczko,
EE 7.40 (pp. 360-61 specifically) has examples for citing town-level "family books" created from church records. However, this example focuses upon family books held by the church.
If I understand your description correctly, you need to cite a CD published by a genealogical society. If so, you are citing a basic publication. It does not matter what the subject matter is and, whether the publication is in print form or CD, the format is the same.
Chapter 12 covers publications: "Books, CDs, Maps, Leaflets & Videos." 12.61 has an example you can easily follow. After you substitute the relevant data for the details in that example, do add a note to say whether this CD represents image copies of an original book or a database created by the society.
