My grandmother was an ordained minister. I contacted the church that ordained her, to see if they had any records they'd be willing to share - specifically her ordination certificate. They advised that they don't maintain copies of the actual certificates, but what they do maintain is a "Registration Form for Ministerial Office." A copy is below. I'm trying to figure out how to cite this. I did receive it as an image copy, but via e-mail from the church office.
I thought this might be considered a "digital image of a random record," so using the template in section 8.22 (4th ed.), I get:
(Name) ordination, 30 June 1990, Church Name (City, State); image copy supplied by (name of church staff member who e-mailed me the document), 10 Jan 2025.
But then I thought this might also be a record created by the church, so using the template in section 8.18 (4th ed.), I get:
(Name of Minister), registration form for ministerial office, June 1990, unpaginated sheet; Registration-Ministerial Office Files; (Church Name), (City), (State); image copy supplied by (name of church staff member who e-mailed me the document), 10 Jan 2025.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated
rtkoehler, EE4 §8.18 works…
rtkoehler, EE4 §8.18 works fine. I cannot discern from your description whether it was created by the church or at a higher level, but the issue is the same: It's an administrative type record rather than an entry from a sacramental register.
