I have a published book that is a family tree and stories of a branch of my family. It was compiled and published by a committee who collected information from various branches of the family. None of the information has been 'sourced' or 'cited' in the book. Although some sources can be infured as acknowledgement is given to some people and repositories for their assistance. Information in the book has been collected from personal knowledge of family members. Not all 'chapters' have an individual listed as responsible for collecting and collating the data for the publication. It is published by a 'committee' and the committee does not have an official title that I can find.
I have used this book as a framework for the family tree and have worked at finding sources to justify claims made in the book. How do I cite this publication and do I need to add 'unsourced' in the citation and if so where and how.
Cheers

Allyson541, your instincts
Allyson541, your instincts are good. What you need to do is what you seem to be doing already. Your citation follows the Basic Book format. Then, each time you use an assertion from the book, you attach that citation, identifying the exact page of the book, together with a notation that the assertion carries no supporting evidence and that sound evidence must be found before the line can be extended.
