Fold3 CMSR citation

Good afternoon,

I didn't find any specific CMSR citation examples using Fold3 in EE, but in creating my citation below I referenced EE 11.32 as well as this forum post:  https://www.evidenceexplained.com/index.php/content/quicklesson-19-layered-citations-work-layered-clothing

I do not believe Fold3 utilizes stable URLs, right?  I wanted to reference the image numbers but Fold3 doesn't seem to identify them except in the URL - and even then they appear to skip numbers.  For example, the five images in this person's CMSR appear to be:  32729804, 32729811, 32729816, 32729819, and 32729824.  If I reference image numbers, would I need to list them all out like I did here - and if so, what do I do about a soldier that has 50-60 images in their CMSR?

Footnote: "Civil War Service Records (CMSR) - Confederate - Georgia," database with images, Fold3 (www.fold3.com : accessed 11 December 2022), McLeod, J.F., Chaplain, Sixth Infantry (State Guards); citing Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Georgia, National Archives microfilm publication M266, roll number 213.

Short footnote: "Civil War Service Records (CMSR) - Confederate - Georgia," database with images, Fold3, McLeod, J.F., Chaplain, Sixth Infantry (State Guards).

Bibliography: "Civil War Service Records (CMSR) - Confederate - Georgia." Database with images. Fold3. www.fold3.com : 2022.

Thanks!!

spcchap, a Fold3 citation can usually follow the basic format for most online databases:

"Title of Database/Collection," Title of Website (specific URL for specific image : date of access/download) > specific item, with all necessary detail for that type of record; citing .....

Fold3's URLs are simple and they have been commendably stable. The quirky challenge that you've fingered is the frequent need to cite many different URLs, which are almost never consecutive numbers. That can usually be handled with, say,

"Title of Database/Collection, Title of Website (https://www.fold3.com/image/32729804 and 50 subsequent images : access date) > specific item with all necessary detail for that type of record; citing .....

This would be a citation to the whole file. Commonly, in a reference note, we need to cite a specific document, in which case, in the specific item field, we could add "particularly image xxxxxxx, for _____."
