Citing a database with images, "entry for ..." and "image of ..."

Hello, thanks for the guidance in crafting citations for my research.  Here's a situation that I haven't seen explicitly addressed in the book or quicksheet:

An online site has a database with images, and I want to indicate that both the entry in the data base and the accompanying image was examined.  As I hope I understand "entry for" refers to the entry in the database, but I want to let it be known that the image was examined as well.  I read elsewhere in this forum that I should "indicate whether you are referencing a database entry or image, because that difference affects the reliability of the information we take from that source." ...that's what I want to do.

Here's what I came up with.  Any feedback would be truly appreciated.  I'm especially interested in how I should reference the image itself ("image 46" below); that's one thing that I wasn't really sure of. Thank you.

Dan

Mooredan, certainly, you can cite both if you wish. Here are a couple of thoughts to consider:

  • Did you take your data from the database entry or the image?
  • Does the database entry report exactly what is in the image, or are there differences?
  • Do the database entry and the image have the same URL?
  • Considering that a database entry is, in some ways,, the equivalent to an index in a book, if you cite page 259 of a book for its valuable data, do you also cite the index?
